• Use clean and dry plastic or glass bottles with a minimum capacity of 500ml.

• Clean the outside of the bottles to remove any debris.

• Rinse the bottles and caps three times with pond water.

• Collect samples at least 1.5 meters away from the pond edge,
preferably in the feeding zone.

• Close the empty sample bottle and immerse it in the pond to a depth of 30cm above the bottom. Open the cap to fill the bottle completely, then close it tightly and remove it from the water column. Make sure there are no air bubbles inside the bottle.

• Label the sample bottles with permanent marker. Keep the
samples cool and dark and deliver them to a testing laboratory within 2 hours of collection for accurate results.
