The American Shrimp Processors Association (ASPA) filed a petition to address antidumping and countervailing duty on imports of shrimp from Ecuador, India, Indonesia, and Vietnam.

United States International Trade Commission (ITC) has taken a
positive first step in its implementation owing to a unanimous vote of 4-0. The determination proved “there was a reasonable indication that the domestic industry is threatened with harm by imports from the four countries,” the association deliberated recently

The plea in ASPA’s petitions reiterates that imports from Ecuador, India, Indonesia, and Vietnam have caused the domestic prices slump, affecting the domestic market causing serious threat to the native producers and processors, said ASPA President Trey Pearson

The US Department of Commerce is now entitled to make preliminary countervailing duty determinations by March 2024 against the four countries. The final decision is pending.
