Per capita consumption of avocados in the United States alone increased by more than 278 percent between 2000 and 2021 thanks to a targeted industry-wide drive in the 1990s to grow demand.
The marketing campaign for the avocado industry primarily aimed at highlighting its health benefits and giving Avocado the status of a super food. This was executed by a special board that did extensive scientific research on the product and stepped up with strong marketing campaigns on wholesome nutritional benefits of Avocados.
