Environmental conditions and shrimp behaviour play a crucial role in feeding management during winter. It is important for farmers to understand the seasonal changes before implementing
any management strategy.
• The optimal temperature of feeding of shrimp is between 28 -32°C.
• During winter, when temperatures fall below 28°C, there is a decrease in enzymatic and metabolic activity which can have an
impact on feeding behaviour.
• Therefore, increasing feed during low temperatures can result in poor water quality and ultimately affect the overall shrimp health.
• Regular monitoring of check trays allows to know the consumption of shrimp feed which will help manage the feed.
• Farmers should use high quality feed that has a rich protein, top coated with immune enhancing feed additives.
